Something Strange Is Going On Here

I just don’t get it. Is it a fool moon tonight? An early April Fool’s Day joke being played on us by the traditional media?

Of course you have seen this website and joined their Facebook page:

These poor souls have obviously been influenced by the nattering nabobs of negativity. Instead of accepting the City Hall gospel, these people have decided to think for themselves. That really is quite shameful in this City.

More than that, they happen to believe that posting on social media like Facebook and Twitter might help in the distribution of their ideas. What do they think this is: Enwin Awakening, Occupy Enwin/WUC.

The next thing that you will know is that they will call for a huge protest at the next City Council meeting so that everyone on Cogeco can see it for themselves. I got it, there will be a giant flash mob to the song “We built this city” right after the declaration of pecuniary interest. Quite ironic don’t you think.

Windsor Square Exclusive: Mayor To Langlois – You Have Satisfied Your Obligations

From the beginning and up to February 14th, Mayor Francis and a majority of council have led residents to believe the city’s former auditor general was terminated because he did not fulfil the conditions of his employment contract.

But emails acquired by the Windsor Square suggest otherwise.

It is interesting that not once in the emails is an audit of Enwin of Utilities mentioned or discussed. But what is mentioned or referred to are the continual delays, road blocks and interference Todd Langlois experienced and a growing frustration over actions he believed were contrary to the Municipal Act and threatened his independence.

And importantly, when Langlois informed the Mayor, members of senior administration and the audit committee he would be taking action, he was fired.

While the discussion has rightfully focussed upon members of the audit committee little attention has been paid to the role the Mayor played.

LANGLOIS REGRETS

The former auditor general in Windsor says he regrets ever taking the job.

In a news conference heard ‘live’ on AM800 yesterday, Todd Langlois says his office was constantly undermined and met with resistance.

Langlois says the city’s CAO didn’t want an A-G office, and he wanted to review the books at Enwin Utilities but was blocked.

Langlois was fired Tuesday after being on the job for 10 months.

The mayor denies the allegations and says Langlois was fired because he didn’t live up to his contract.

CLOSED BOOKS AT ENWIN

The vice-chair of the city’s Audit Committee won’t commit to opening up the Enwin books and says he’ll assess the need for it first.

Bill Carter says “we’ve gone in and done a lot of audit work based on concerns of some individuals,  and there’s nothing there that’s as bad as they make it out to be”

Carter also says there’s no connection between the firing of former Auditor General Todd Langlois the same day his draft work plan was to be introduced.

CULTURE OF CONTROL

The former Auditor General of Windsor is setting the record straight.

At a news conference heard live on AM 800, lawyer Jim Cooke who is representing Todd Langlois says Langlois was given no reasons for his termination.

Langlois requested to review the books at Enwin but was told by Mayor Eddie Francis that Enwin wasn’t in his scope of responsiblities.

Cooke called city hall a “toxic workplace” and that there is a culture of control emanating from the mayor’s office.

At this point, Langlois has not filed a lawsuit.

Cooke says Langlois will not receive a severance unless he signs a release or ‘gag order’.

LANGLOIS SPEAKS OUT

We get the other side of the story today from Windsor’s former Auditor General.

Todd Langlois has called a news conference at his lawyer’s office to talk about his dismissal by Windsor city council on Monday.

Under an agreement with the city, Langlois will get 6 months salary.

He was hired less than a year ago after a 3-year search by city council.

AG TERMINATED

On the job for less than a year, Windsor’s Auditor General has been terminated.

Sources tell AM800 News, Todd Langlois has been let go for refusing to outsource his staff even though he originally agreed to do so.

The city will pay him 6 months salary.

Langlois was hired last April.
